There was a big increases when the war started. -When men were called to the home front women were there to replace them. -Women did many different kinds of work. -they worked in the chemical and explosive industry,made shells and bombs, electrical cable and wire, uniforms, clothing etc.. -Around 7 million women were employed during the war. -Many women never worked before and had to learn how to cope with it all. (e.x. coping with working and taking care of their family) -Some had to travel far to work. -Some had to work part time so they could look after their children. -Some work for women was dangerous and risky. Summary: WW1 affected women in the home front because it gave women a change to showed a different side of women (e.g. how they are able to work and balance life.) Reï ¬âection on action plan: I thought I did a overall good job on my reï ¬âection plan. I thought I organized my reï ¬âection plan well. I like how I colored coded the plan and added check boxes next to the task. This helped me to stay organized and to see my progress. I thought overall I did a good job with keeping up with my reï ¬âection plan. Except for 2 days where I did not complete the OPVl. But ended up completing them the next couple of days. I think the action plan did help me with this task. It kept me organized and on task.

Examine Eliotââ¬â¢s treatment of women in Prufrock, Preludes, Portrait of a Lady and Rhapsody on a Windy Night In all four of the poems; ââ¬ËPrufrockââ¬â¢, ââ¬ËPreludesââ¬â¢, ââ¬ËPortrait of a Ladyââ¬â¢ and ââ¬ËRhapsody on a Windy Nightââ¬â¢, Eliot makes references to women. Eliot seems to treat women almost as objects to either be looked at with wonder and, at times, fascination or as objects to be scorned upon. In all of the poems Eliot makes the voice of the poem slightly distanced from the women and this, to me, makes the women seem almost untouchable. When looking at the poem ââ¬ËPrufrockââ¬â¢ we must first notice that the full title is ââ¬ËThe Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock.ââ¬â¢ This title seems almost ironic as, after reading the poem, we realise that the poem is not a love song at all. The title is beauteous however, like the women Eliot makes reference to in the poem; ââ¬Å"In the room the women come and go / Talking of Michelangelo.â⬠This small, non-descriptive mention of women tells us much about Eliotââ¬â¢s perception of women in ââ¬ËPrufrock.ââ¬â¢ These two lines, presented to us almost like a chorus, interrupt the flow of the poem, which is perhaps what women did in Eliotââ¬â¢s life. These lines also show Eliotââ¬â¢s fascination with women as women were less educated than men around 1910 when ââ¬ËPrufrockââ¬â¢ was conceived, so for these women to talk of Michelangelo is almost shocking and something to be marvelled upon. In Prufrock, I believe Eliot is concerned with the high society of women and the poem shows his fascination with them. The tone of ââ¬ËPrufrockââ¬â¢ is not bitter towards the women, nor does it celebrate them, it merely comments on the women and Eliot seems to give a fairly neutral view of women. ââ¬ËPortrait of a Ladyââ¬â¢ is another poem in which Eliot ex... ...apsody on a Windy Nightââ¬â¢. By appealing to our senses, Eliot draws us in to his poetry up to a point where we can almost smell exactly what he is describing, which brings us closer to the women in his poems. Between the four poems ââ¬Å"Prufrockâ⬠, ââ¬Å"Portrait of a Ladyâ⬠, ââ¬Å"Preludesâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Rhapsody on a Windy Nightâ⬠Eliot provides us with a rounded view of women. He describes the beautiful and untouchable side of them in ââ¬ËPrufrockââ¬â¢, the darker, more sordid side of women in ââ¬ËPreludesââ¬â¢ and ââ¬ËRhapsody on a Windy Nightââ¬â¢ with a description of how false women can be in ââ¬ËPortrait of a Ladyââ¬â¢. Eliotââ¬â¢s imagery is effective in the poems, as by using it he justifies his reasons for describing the women in the way he does. I feel that Eliot describes women in the way in which he views them, drawing from personal experiences and what he takes from poets who have gone before him.

Code of Ethics
I am an employee at Liberty Mutual Insurance Group; Founded in Boston in 1912 to write workers compensation insurance. Liberty Mutual Group today has grown to become a diversified group of insurance company with operations worldwide. They offer Auto, Home, Commercial, Life, and Umbrella Policies. Like every business in the USA, Liberty has a Code of Business Ethics and Conduct-Guiding Principle. The purpose of the code is to create and maintain a sense of professionalism and give the public a standard to which it can hold a corporation or profession.I will discuss two of the guiding principle I feel are important. The first one is Honesty and Integrity. Liberty Mutual states that we conduct our business and interactions with fellow employees, customers and business contacts with the utmost honesty and integrity. We are dedicated to helping our customers and each other live safer, more secure lives. The strength of this code dictates that as a company the human quality of communicatio n is to act truthfully and adhere to a code of honor.This code gives employees a sense of pride to work for an organization promoting this type of behavior. It inspires workers to behave ethically. The weakness of this code is how do you monitor honesty and integrity in a large company such as Liberty Mutual, where there are 45,000 employees worldwide. The instruction in this code tends to be too general or vague. The second is a Safe and Professional Workplace; Liberty states that they are committed to treating all people with dignity and respect.This includes maintaining a safe and professional work environment that provides equal employment opportunities to all, is free of harassment or discrimination, and complies with all applicable federal, state and local laws. The strength of this code is to discipline people that violate any of the codes mandate. Employers have seen an increase in complaints of employees dealing with a hostile environment. The weakness in this code is that itââ¬â¢s sometimes inconsistent with one another. Most of the complaints are based on the individual experience; there is no actual witness or persons involved. That makes it inconsistent. Freewriting in English Composition
In composition, freewriting is a discovery (or prewriting) strategy intended to encourage the development of ideas without concern for the conventional rules of writing. Also calledà stream-of-consciousness writing. Put another way, freewriting is like warming-up on a pitcherââ¬â¢s mound or tossing a few baskets before the real game begins. Thereââ¬â¢s no pressure because there are no rules, and nobody is keeping score. When freewriting, advises Peter Elbow in Writing Without Teachers, Never stop to look back, to cross something out, to wonder how to spell something, to wonder what word or thought to use, or to think about what you are doing. Freewriting Freewriting is the easiest way to get words on paper and the best all-around practice in writing that I know. To do a freewriting exercise, simply force yourself to write without stopping for ten minutes. Sometimes you will produce good writing, but thatââ¬â¢s not the goal. Sometimes you will produce garbage, but thatââ¬â¢s not the goal either. You may stay on one topic; you may flip repeatedly from one to another: it doesnââ¬â¢t matter. Sometimes you will produce a good record of your stream of consciousness, but often you canââ¬â¢t keep up. Speed is not the goal, though sometimes the process revs you up. If you canââ¬â¢t think of anything to write, write about how that feels or repeat over and over I have nothing to write or Nonsense or No. If you get stuck in the middle of a sentence or thought, just repeat the last word or phrase till something comes along. The only point is to keep writing. . . .The goal of freewriting is in the process, not the product.(Peter Elb ow, Writing With Power: Techniques for Mastering the Writing Process, 2nd ed. Oxford Univ. Press, 1998) Start Writing You can sit there, tense and worried, freezing the creative energies, or you can start writing something, perhaps something silly. It simply doesnt matter what you write; it only matters that you write. In five or ten minutes, the imagination will heat, the tightness will fade, and a certain spirit and rhythm will take over.(Leonard S. Bernstein,à Getting Published: The Writer in the Combat Zone. William Morrow, 1986) Planners and Plungers Roy Peter Clark of the Poynter Institute, a midcareer school for journalists, and Don Fry, a freelance writing coach, divide writers into planners and plungers. Like Don, Im a planner who likes to know the central point and general organization of what hes about to write before he types the first line. Roys a plunger. So sometimes he just jumps into a topic and starts writing whatever comes to mind. After a while, a focus emerges. Then he backs out, throws away most of what hes written, and starts over. Random House, 2006) Freewriting in a Journal Freewriting can be compared to the warming-up exercises that athletes perform; freewriting limbers up the muscles of your mind gets you in the mood, undams the stream of language.à Here is a bit of practical advice: if you have mental writers cramp, merely sit down with yourà journalà and start entering words in it, just as they pop into your mind; dont even think about sentences necessarily, but fill a complete page of your journal with spontaneously discovered words. There is a good chance that this uncontrolled, effortless writing will begin to assume a direction that you can follow.(W. Begin by speaking into a tape recorder or into a computer with voice-recognition software, and just keep talking about your topic for at least seven to ten minutes. Say whatever comes to your mind, and dont stop talking.
